Singer-songwriter Judit Neddermann has been a Joid'art ambassador for some time. Her serene, Mediterranean-inspired music reveals the spirit and soul she has within and brings our happiness and emotional selves to the surface, allowing us to uncover the beauty hidden in everyday life. Judit is pure sincerity, a warm, intimate voice that resonates with the shapes in our jewellery and brings them to life. [Interview content] Just as she's done in her latest album, , Judit bares all in our interview and gives us a look at the woman behind that voice that is just so truly special. Judith is often adorned with Joid'art creations at her concerts, as in the photos captured for this interview by Valentina Kalaydjian.
Sensitive, happy and loving.
As a singer I've collaborated on dozens of projects and with many artists from different genres. Five years ago, when I was just 22 years old, I started working on my own project. Since then I've released three albums with my own original songs. I studied at the Taller de Músics in Barcelona. It was around the time I was in high school, but it wasn't some huge decision for me; it developed in a very organic way. The sea calms my spirit and helps me reconnect with my bare necessities. I think in my music I try to convey serenity, gratitude and joy through all of life's twists and turns and I guess I might have gained this serenity from living by the sea.
I usually play the guitar. I play a chord that inspires me and then the melody comes to me. When I'm really lucky the melody and the lyrics come to me at the same time, and when I'm really really lucky they come to me in any situation, even without having my guitar in front of me. I find inspiration in love and life.
All kinds! Pop, world music, singer-songwriters. I also listen to all the music that's on trend so I know what the millions of people around the world are connecting with. Well, there are eleven original numbers and two covers. I talk about encounters and farewells, our place in the universe, police oppression, those that are no longer with us. I'm defending physical and emotional nudity. As a woman, I want to be able to bare all if I so desire. We wanted to show beauty in the photo, to convey, in just one image, the profundity and authenticity of the album, not patriarchal, pornographic beauty. A woman just as she is, no hidden agendas, but bare and strong because that's how she wants to be. The truth is I hardly ever wear jewellery! Only earrings. I don't wear anything on my hands because it's a nuisance when I'm playing guitar, and I don't tend to wear necklaces very often either! But I have always really loved earrings.
See friends, go to the beach, go out to eat at a good restaurant, watch films. The guitar. "I Am Light" by India Arie. The forest! by Vermeer. I love all the pieces that remind me of nature. The Forge collection's organic shapes fascinate me. I also really love Luna and Caramel; they're truly evocative and authentic...
