Laura Carlin is an English illustrator who also does ceramic work. She’s a wonderful illustrator, but when she applies her artwork to ceramics the result is truly extraordinary. Her work is imbued with great femininity. The pieces that Laura creates combine a certain ancestral air with elements of the cosmos and the primitive world, all from a perspective rooted in contemporary illustration, something that Joid'art simply adores. Her little sculptures of women, similar to the Venus of ancient times, are a psalm to women’s beauty. Her animal creations combine a childlike innocence with the memory of the earliest cave paintings. The colour tones, the balance of volumes – everything she creates is pure sensibility.
