MAKING OF • SHOOTING SS14

Feb. 19, 2014 · Joidart

was done a few months ago in an apartment in the Eixample district of Barcelona. It was a brilliant session in which every member of the team put a whole lot of effort into getting some really unique photos. We wanted the images to transmit a sense of freshness and Mediterranean spirit. At the same time, the space needed to be minimalist with a natural feel about it. So we positioned the model out on the terrace and used giant palm leaves as the leitmotif for a summery feel. The pieces to be shot came wrapped in trays. We took them out, placed them on the model, gave them a context and let them stand out. It’s really amazing how the pieces change once they are actually being worn by someone! Mireia, our photographer, did her very utmost to ensure that the light would be warm and very Mediterranean, and she succeeded! This is the second time we’ve worked with her and we hope to repeat the process in the future! The make-up and hair stylist chose to accentuate the model’s features with a centre-parted up-do and neutral make-up with a slash of colour on the lips. She also highlighted the model’s eyebrows, darkening and emphasizing them for added character. Styling was the responsibility of Anna Codina and Cristina Julià from Joid’art. As always, they arrived piled with clothes and chose just the right garments to combine with each piece. It was an exhausting day, but well worth it.
