If we're speaking poetically, we might say that we capture the art of Mediterranean nature in creations of minimalist and timeless design. We reinterpret its shapes, colors, and textures in each piece of jewelry.
We also like to define ourselves as a family-owned business that creates contemporary jewelry in collaboration with artists and jewelers. Not only that, but we craft them very close to the Mediterranean coast and send them all over the world, imbued with the essence of their creators and the sea that inspires them.
Heritage
It all began in 1981, when the entrepreneurial spirit of Jaume Julià drove him to convert a small gold and silversmith's workshop in a small rural village near the Costa Brava into a contemporary jewelry company. The artistic heritage of these lands bathed by the Mediterranean and the mark left there by universal creators meant that the brand had a clear link with art and with the city of Barcelona from the very beginning.
Jaume Julià invited creators from the Escola Massana to collaborate in the design of the very first collections to create jewelry with character. He also established ties with different jewelers and artists, such as Anna Font, Ricardo Domingo and Manuel Outumuro, which allowed the brand to stand out for its aesthetic purity and unique image.
International growth
Slowly, the success of Joidart's creations crossed borders as the brand reached women all over the world, especially in France, Germany, England, Hungary and Portugal, and later in the United States, the Netherlands, Russia and the United Kingdom.
The growth of the company was based on a strong commitment to design as well as new technologies, with Cristina Julià, the brand's creative director, and Mariona Julià, sales director, at the helm. Their leadership continues to this day. Together, they have taken over from their father, taking up the creative spirit and personal touch that has always been Joidart's hallmark.
Mediterranean artists
We have evolved, but we are still a family business that creates artistic jewels alongside artists and jewelers linked to our land and our sea: Maria Diamantes, Lara Costafreda or Conrad Roset and emerging talents such as Montse Basora, Clara Niubò and Sara Domènech they have embodied their art in our pieces.
We work to transmit to the world the Mediterranean creativity that has produced outstanding plastic art geniuses the likes of Miró, Gaudí and Dalí. The collections inspired by their works express themselves through an artistic language that is already universal.
Mindful jewelry
We make our jewelry conscientiously and locally, through processes that are as environmentally friendly as possible. From our workshop, tucked away amidst nature, we apply artisanal jewelry-making techniques and produce all the pieces by hand in short runs. This way we avoid overproducing and storing.
We follow the slow crafts methodology, where each manual process – soldering, polishing, scratching, enameling – is carried out calmly, allowing the jewelry the necessary time to achieve the desired finish.
From Barcelona
The charm of Barcelona's signature spaces inspires us to design pieces that mirror the creative spirit of the city we so adore. The light and strength that the sea transfers to the city are reflected in one way or another in the collections' colors, organic shapes and expressive volumes, which exude the Mediterranean in every line.
